The Triton is the yachting industry's longest-running independent news publication dedicated to captains and crew. Since 2004, it has been the trusted source for the people who actually work on the water — delivering news, features, career advice, and industry intelligence that matters to the professionals who keep superyachts running.
History
The Triton was founded in 2004 by David and Lucy Reed. Lucy famously visited the renowned vessel Big Eagle at Bahia Mar with her baby in a backpack to report for the fledgling yacht crew magazine. From those scrappy beginnings, The Triton grew into the industry's paper of record for crew.
The publication has since been acquired by a new ownership team bringing decades of marine industry experience. The new owners have deep roots in the Fort Lauderdale yachting community, with backgrounds spanning marina development, yacht manufacturing, and marine advisory — ensuring The Triton remains anchored in the world it covers.
What The Triton Covers
Industry news and regulation changes affecting captains and crew
Career development, training, and certification updates
Technical features on yacht systems, safety, and operations
Crew lifestyle, health, and wellbeing
Boat show coverage and event reporting
Interviews with captains, engineers, and industry leaders
Market Position
Where other yachting publications focus on owners, design, and the glamour of the industry, The Triton speaks directly to the working professionals. This focus has earned it a loyal and engaged readership that trusts the publication precisely because it understands their world.
The Triton publishes online daily and in print periodically, maintaining a presence at major industry events including the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and Monaco Yacht Show.
Mission
The Triton's mission remains what it was on day one: to educate, inform, and entertain captains and crew. In an industry that often celebrates the vessels over the people, The Triton exists to ensure the professionals who make it all work have a voice, a resource, and a community of their own.
The Triton is part of our verified Tenders & Toys directory. Luxury tenders, submersibles, and water toys for superyachts.
